Nicola Johnson

Nicola has been an adult member of scouting for over 25 years. Nicola accepted the role of District Commissioner in July 2021 and she is greatly looking forward to leading all of Sandwell forward on it’s scouting adventure.

Ryan Hadley
Deputy District Commissioner

I started my Scouting Journey in 2010 when I joined the movement as a young Scout, following this I became a Young Leader in the Cub section and later started my training as a adult volunteer. In 2018 I had the opportunity to join the district team as District Youth Commissioner, due to my passion for Youth Lead Scouting. After a successful three years service I have now joined the NEW district team as Deputy District Commissioner and I look forward to the challenges and adventures this will bring.

Chris Wallace
District Chair

Chris joined the District in 2021, having volunteered in Scouting elsewhere.  He leads the trustees making sure that the District fulfils its responsibilities and supporting great Scouting throughout Sandwell.  Chris balances his volunteering with a full-time job and spending time with his two small children.

Lucy Carter
District Secretary

I have always had a passion for helping within the community. From a young person within Girlguding to taking my passion into my adult years to become Sandwell District’s Secretary. Taking the lead on ensuring rigorous notes and minutes are taken for various meetings, as well as being a core support to the district team, in supporting an organising events. Scouting can be a large commitment, but I have found a role which has suited my busy lifestyle whilst still giving back to the community.

Zoe Jevons
District Advisor (Inclusion)

Hi my name is Zoe I’m the inclusion advisor for Sandwell District I’m also the senco lead in my full time job as nursery manager. Helping people with special needs is a big passion of mine which is why I made the change from being a cub leader to help Sandwell progress and move forward in understanding young people with extra needs. I’ve been a leader in Sandwell since 2012 when I made the best decision ever to start my scouting journey at 7th Great Bridge cubs.

Andy Barlow
Nights Away Advisor

I started my scout journey back in 1964 when I joined 4th Walsall (1st Great Barr) Scout Group as a Cub Scout (Beaver Scouts were not invented then). I stayed with the Group, which later became 4th Dartmouth, all of the way through Scouts and Venture Scouts and became the Scout Troop Leader at the tender age of 20. In 1979 I was selected as a Jamboree Contingent leader for Hereford and Worcester Scout County for the World Scout Jamboree in Iran, but we never got there. Instead we ended up at a mini Jamboree in Sweden and had a great time. In 1990 I was one of the leaders for the West Mercia Himalayan Expedition to Stok Kangri in India where we took 15 Venture Scouts to the top of the 20,000 foot mountain. I have held many positions in the District and County including District Scout Leader, District Explorer Scout Commissioner and ACC Activities. I am currently a Training Advisor and Nights Away Assessor.

Danny Southall

I started Scouting as a cub when I was 8 years old and have worked my way through Scouts and Explorers. In 2018 I had the opportunity to go to Belgium with Scouting and became a Young Leader in Scouts. But now I am looking forward to the next adventure scouting will take me on.
